JEFF KOHLER

What was your first live music performance? 4th grade, Sister Estelle gave me a piano piece way over my head called the Easter Bunny March I had to perform in front of the entire school. I was so terrified I messed up 10 seconds into the piece and had to stop and start over. Still pretty upset about that.
How long have you been performing? Started in 1979 in my dorm at the University of Denver. Played two Ramones songs that I practiced for a month solid because I had just started playing guitar. Crowd went wild and here I am still doing it today.
If you were going to a deserted island and could only bring three band album collections with you, what would they be? Rolling Stones, Elton John, John Hiatt.
Favorite band name you've had over the years? The Plaid, one of my college new wave/punk ensembles.
If you were a tree, what kind would you be? Definitely one of those trees from the talking forest in H.R. Pufnstuf.

TERRY JOHNSON
Lead vocals and guitar
What was your first live music performance? 10 years old with my family playing a gig at a nursing home in Gardner, Massachusetts (where I was born). At 12 was playing for my mom's country band in this smelly grungy old dive on New Years Eve with cougars hitting on me. Made $40 and thought this is the life!
How long have you been performing? On and off for 47 years - time flies!
If you were going to a deserted island and could only bring three album collections with you, what would they be? Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan and Steely Dan.
Favorite band name you've had over the years? Up the Neck
If you were a tree, what kind would you be? Coconut tree. I've been pretty nuts most of my life!

PAUL JOHNSON
Vocals, keyboards, percussion
What was your first live music performance? A college variety show performing Main Street (Seger), Hotel California (Eagles) and the The Load Out (Jackson Brown).
How long have you been performing? When I joined Terry and Jeff in 1989 with Up the Neck.
If you were going to a deserted island and could only bring three album collections with you, what would they be? The Beatles, The Cure and The Grateful Dead.
Favorite band name you've had over the years? Voodoo Brown
If you were a tree, what kind would you be? The highest tree.

MARK "BYRDMAN" BYRD
Bass, vocals
What was your first live music performance? I was in a grade school band and I played cornet (a trumpet). That morphed into a rock band and I did a two hour gig for a youth group dance at the Masonic Temple.
How long have you been performing? Since 1972 at the age of 14.
If you were going to a deserted island and could only bring three album collections with you, what would they be? Grand Funk Railroad, America, Dan Fogelberg.
Favorite band name you've had over the years? Low Clearance, inspired by a sign on a highway overpass.
If you were a tree, what kind would you be? Old Redwood. They have stood the test of time, kind of like me.

Kenny Marks
Cajon, Percussion
What was your first live music performance? I played trumpet in a jazz band in High School. Then took a 40 year break and took up the drums as part of my mid life crisis.
How long have you been performing? Been with Jeff Johnson and Company since November '19.
If you were going to a deserted island and could only bring three album collections with you, what would they be? Allman Brothers, Joe Jackson, Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass.
Favorite band name you've had over the years? Jeff Johnson and Company.
If you were a tree, what kind would you be? Beard Tongue Penstemon. It's really more of a bush, but it's fun to say and looks like me.
